five signs that you're almost French

November 1, 2015

1 You find yourself drinking lukewarm black coffee out of a big bowl in the morning.

2 If someone refers to you by a pronoun (he, him, she, her) rather than your name, in company, you consider that to be grounds for ending a friendship.

3 You chill the glasses as well as the champagne.

4 You panic if the boulangerie has run out of bread.

5 You prefer proactive aggression – an angry shrug, maybe some shouting, swearing and arm waving and then... poof, all forgotten – to the passive kind.

Hi,Karen. I've read all your books including the latest, Sweet Encore. Have you moved back permanently to Devon? It saddened me to think you had to leave Delphine, Gabriella, and Pierre Antoine. He is an enigma to me. Is he real? Do you still see any of them ? Good luck in this new venture.

Yes we are in Devon for the moment. Please don't be sad: I am still in touch with Delphine, Gabriella and Pierre-Antoine (yes, he is real; and yes, he is an enigma to me too) and will return to the village at some point in the not too distant future. The plan is to spend winters in Devon and summer in the Poitou.

Karen X

Just like you, except a decade older! left West London, Lab also! to an adventure in SW France! Still here, living your observations! Very funny. My other half and I loved your books! Any update on Sweet Encore paperback?

Hi Karen,
I love your books and can't wait for Sweet Encore in paperback - I can't bear the thought of a Kindle, but will no doubt succumb eventually. Although I am pleased you're living in a cottage in Devon (my dream too) I was strangely sad that you had left France! So pleased that you still plan to go back.
I've tried to get Sweet Encore in paperback which I understood had been published on 28th May - have you any news on this please.
Keep writing Karen and let us know what your next venture is x

I too am so thrilled to hear that you plan to spend time in France. We have a holiday home a few hundred yards from the Monkey Valley and I have read and re-read your books.
