tout sweet america

August 1, 2011

5997915242_cb6c19b310.jpgTo tie in with the official launch day of Tout Sweet in the US, I've written a two-part guest posting for Liberty London Girl, starting today with 'Five Things I've Learnt Since Moving To France' (including why Frenchmen wear Speedos and the secret of how never to be ill from oysters again...)

Sasha, a fellow Francophile - soon to be holidaying (or should that be 'vacationing'?) just 56km from me - was one of the first to read and review Tout Sweet, second only to my friends in the travel department of The Mail On Sunday. Her support has been invaluable and her quote is on the cover of the US version. Cheers for that LLG!

In other news, my third book, 'Tout Soul: The Pursuit Of Happiness In Rural France' is a whisker away from completion. It's been a while I know, but I'd like to thank everyone who has sent motivational emails telling me to get a move on, thus helping to pull me back from the brink of a recently acquired Twitter addiction (www.twitter.com/mimipompom1).

Biff meanwhile, spurred on by the success of his guest blog posting - well, five comments! - is wondering if he should write a tell-all book, provisionally entitled, 'A Dog's Life: Tales From The Poitou-Charentes.

Finally, I've already started to receive emails from readers in the US who managed to get hold of early copies of Tout Sweet and must have read it, well ... tout de suite, so I'd like to say thank you and bonjour to them..

Loved Tout Sweet! Found it at Barnes & Nobel on 86th Street in NYC. Thanks for sharing your journey. Wish I had the faith to take a break from my crazy NY life!

I'm one of your US readers and I couldn't put your book down! I discovered your blog recently and read it through from the start, then bought "Tout Sweet". I love your writing and was prompted to buy a couple of geraniums for my deck to create a little corner of France in Northern California! I'm an English francophile (lived in Paris for a year) and moved from London to San Francisco 11 years ago. Good luck with the US publication. Jane

Hi Karen

Good news about the third book - wait in anticipation for publication. If it is as brilliant as the other two, it will be a sure fire winner!

Hi Karen

I live in Niagara Falls, Canada.
I'm really glad to hear of your third book ! I've read Tout Sweet and Toute Allure. Both were fascinating and intriguing.

Hi Karen,

You are an inspiration and I enjoy your writing style so much that I could hardly put down Tout Sweet! I am an American who was lucky enough to live and study in Provence so I have a deep appreciation for many of the simple things you came to love about your New Life in France. Bless you for recognizing that a wardrobe full of designer shoes and handbags does not create fulfillment; and further still, thank you for sharing your enlightenment in such a charming and humorous manner.
Cordialement,
~Erikka

I'm reading tout sweet & toute allure for the second time. Love visualising the countryside in France & laughing at the characters. Javier Bardem is 'The lion'. Can't wait for the next installment :)

Just read your book in Minneapolis, Minn. Loved it, read in a couple of days. It is so inspiring. Loved hearing about life away from the city and the house. I wanted to read more, the posts between the stories.

Congrats. It is a great read.

I've read all three of your books! Loved them all! I live in the US and had to wait for the last two to be shipped from the UK. Please keep writing,
