tout tranquil

sunset.jpgHigh on the list of things that I miss about London are the yoga and pilates classes I used to attend.

So I am delighted to have finally found a yoga class that I really enjoy here in France. Taught by Philippa Manning-Smith, it takes place at the bar in Champniers, 10.30 am Monday mornings - ideally timed to set you up for the week ahead.

It's a very gentle class - suitable for beginners - and includes meditation and breathing exercises. I'm a recent convert to the benefits of meditation and was astonished to discover the physical and psychological effects it can bring.

After an hour and a half of the slow twisting and stretching exercises, to the sound of birds tweeting outside, you will feel like a different person. It's as calming as watching a Poitevin sunset. Afterwards you might even find yourself able to call France Telecom without losing your cool.

For details of other classes in the area, contact Philippa on 05 17 42 60 86/06 21 51 24 81 Email: chandra.yoga.fr@gmail.com

Hi Karen

This is nothing to do with your last post, but just wanted to say that as I wandered into Waitrose in my lunchhour I passed the flower section & suddenly noticed the peonies. Immediately thought of you as I remembered from your books that this is your favourite flower. They were very beautiful pink ones (never really looked properly at peonies before, probsbly cos they are never around for long). No doubt you are making the most of the season while it lasts. :)

Dear John Scully

thank you for your wonderfully constructive comment. Are you referring to yoga, meditation or my blog? If the latter, please feel free not to visit again. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you sound like exactly the sort of person I am NOT writing for. By the way, I notice you gave a fake email address, which prevents me from sending a personal reply.
