March 30, 2011

I'm in transit, in London, wide awake at 2.30am, having returned from New York this morning. I stayed with my brother and his family and apart from playing princesses and a game called 'hiding stuff' with my little niece, one of the highlights of my trip was witnessing my sister-in-law's audacious approach to child psychology.

'Nathalie,' she said to my niece on Friday morning. 'I've told you already. If you don't stop misbehaving, you won't be going to ...THE DENTIST this afternoon.'

OOh - I loved the dentist as a child (and weirdly still do)... praise for tooth brushing and a toy at the end? What could be better?

Am in NY now - shame our trips didn't overlap!

Hola Sophie,

You have the most stunningly gorgeous teeth of anyone I've ever met, so I'm not surprised! Apparently Nathalie's dentist has jungle decor and he gives out balloons at the end. If only, I could feel similar enthusiasm ...perhaps if they offered you a stiff G&T or large glass of Chablis at the end! (I've been spending a lot of time at the dentist recently.)

Anyway, missed you by a whisker in NY but hope you're having fun. Mimi xx
