boot camp

June 1, 2010

Hola from a monastery in Spain, where I am currently subsisting on green juice and a handful of nuts a day, as part of a detox/boot camp retreat. Oh and a dried apricot - the culinary highlight of the day. Travis can't believe I'm actually paying to do this. 'Can't you just stay at home and not eat?' he said when I told him where I was going.

He's got a point. But I would never find the motivation to do several hours of yoga, four hours of uphill hiking and drink two pints of cucumber and celery juice (plus a shot of wheatgrass juice) a day at home. Not with the boulangerie calling to me from just a hundred paces away.

Now that the headache and nausea have subsided, I'm almost beginning to enjoy it here. Someone has just handed me a 'cocktail' consistig of fizzy water with a slice of lemon and ginger (never did I imagine I would get so excited about a glass of water.) My only worry is that by the time I leave here I will have turned into a teetotal, carbohydrate-phobic health freak.

I'm not sure if I admire you or think you are mad!!! Just don't go on an eating binge when you get home.

Well, Karen you have my deepest admiration for what you are putting your body through, however if it's good for your psyche then GO FOR IT! Just a thought, are you surrounded by monks?

Hey celery stick, hope the bootcamp is going well and you haven't sloped off to the bars of Malaga for a shifty Veuve, lol.

I've been munching nuts and raisins and doing hard labour in the boiling hot garden to support you...working a treat and it's only costing calories...enjoy, Mx

Enjoy (?) the bootcamp, and don't worry... I don't see you giving up the vin rouge or croissants for good any time soon -- you enjoy life too much!

Bravo Karen ! For surprises, you're ace ! Gone to a monastery (!!#, in Spain #ouch ! again??!!#...And for the privilege of ...not eating !! Sounds very Catholic to me ! #meaning self-punishing!)..Hope you are not 'toute seule' there, but with some lovely monks or tantric yogists...?
PS: Dont shrink too much !

I've put on a stone in the past year and it hasn't done me any harm whatsoever :-)
