sleepless

July 16, 2009

I can't sleep so I get up shortly after 6.00am and walk Biff down a deserted country lane, past hay bales, an old windmill, a hulking combine harvester (stationary fortunately) and a silvery river for over an hour. The morning countryside is backlit by a pale lemon sun, so that everything looks slightly bleached out. It makes me feel better. But not much.

I hope you feel better soon! Something to cheer you up: I bought your book today at "Books etc" in Whiteleys and the lovely lady at the information desk knew exactly and immediately where to find it and what it was about.

Can't wait to read your blog. Have to go to drinks meeting (argghh I'm sure you don't miss those) then will be back to get lost in the loveliness. Also welcome to the Twitterverse.

I have just finished Tout Sweet - devoured in in two days! Really enjoyed it. I know Poitou Charente well - friends in Confolens, Ruffec, Civray and further up in Deux Sevres. They are part of the Nexus group (singles in France!). Although most are retired 'fraid to say, they still enjoy a knees up! I too am looking for a house to do up - but waiting for one to come to me rather than the other way round. Good luck with you writing and your life in France - the house sounds luuuuverly!!! x
