Luis has gone to visit his mother in Portugal for Christmas. On Christmas Eve he phones to tell me how much he is missing me and finishes the phone call with his usual ‘je t’aime cherie, je t’aime’ before promising to phone on Christmas Day. But he doesn’t. And I haven't heard anything from him since. When I try to call his mobile it goes straight to answering service. I am trying to finish a feature on handbags to take my mind off the fact Luis has gone awol, but I don't have a good feeling about this....

oh dear. perhaps his mobile is broken. i wish you a good resolution, and look forward to reading the article on handbags, assuming it's in the usual place.

Mimi, I really for you, To lose somebody that you love, especially at christmas must hurt. But "c'est la vie".
I hope your close friends rally around and support you.
