dominance

So the (former) Portuguese neighbour has been visiting on a nightly basis for aperitifs. This week I even cooked him dinner.

Biff however, is not very impressed. In fact he goes berserk - practically bouncing off the walls - whenever Luis arrives and starts a futile attempt at dominance by barking furiously and desperately trying to get himself to a more elevated level (jumping on the back of the sofa or even standing on top of the kitchen table.) My (former) Portuguese neighbour just laughs at him - or gently blows air into his nostrils - which makes Biff even madder.

The problem, I think, is that my little black dog likes to be the centre of attention and cannot bear to be ignored. He recently spent an entire night barking and making whimpering noises outside the bedroom door. But he got his revenge in the morning when he made off with my (former) Portuguese neighbour's t-shirt, shaking it furiously as if trying to kill it and forcing Luis to engage in a protracted tug-o-war to get it back.

Mmm, sounds to me like your dog might be demonstrating 'gay' tendencies. How cool, a gay dog...'Biff the piff' one might say. Lol.

My dog is gay, I am convinced - he likes tall men, and when I walk him through town attempts to walk into all jewellery shops, shoe shops and underwear shops (of the frilly variety) that we pass. He also wears tiger stripes and has tautly toned thighs - being a brindled greyhound. At least Biff is vaguely macho! And doesn't prefer the Portugese neighbour to you...

It must be a challenge typing out (former) Portuguese neighber on a regular basis -- if the aperatifs are to continue, have you ever thought about abbreviating to (f)Pn? Though that does look like some sort of mathematical formula...

Dear Provincial Lady,

I laughed so much at your email about your greyhound with his tiger stripes and tautly toned thighs. I have had my doubts about Biff too - despite his macho posturings, he immediately starts showing off and becomes very flirtatious whenever anyone male comes to the house, even if it is just the man from Siveer to read the water meter. He also kept trying to go into French Connection when we were in London.

Mimi, you would just refer to him as Luis, non? He does have a name, just like Biff.
