Just what is it about the French and the colour brown? Why, I wonder, do they love marron so much? [My house when I bought it was decorated in about fifty different shades of this most unappealing colour.]
I only ask because at line dancing last night, an apparently contentious issue - our signature outfit - was delicately raised by our leader Jeanne, I wasn't even aware that there were plans to change it - let alone that it was a cause of discord - having missed a couple of classes recently.
Personally, I was quite happy with the old arrangement whereby, so long as you stuck to a colour scheme of blue, white and brown, you could wear whatever variation on a Western theme you liked. The combo of jeans, white shirt and brown cowboy boots worked for me.
But last night I watched in horror as our more enthusiastic French members unfurled a frightening succession of Western shirts including one hideous design in cream and brown, for us to vote on. Ewww! I hung around on the sidelines traumatised at the idea of wearing such kit, let alone having to buy it.
In the end, it was decided that from now on we will wear a white Western shirt with wait for it....brown jeans.
I am gutted. Seven For All Mankind, as far as I know, do not make brown jeans. I know I won't look good in this outfit (which incidentally, also includes a long white fringed leatherette belt/skirt to go over the brown jeans, which has the unfortunate effect of making everyone's bottom look twice as big)
I don't want to be a diva but I can't possibly wear this ensemble. Merde! What am I going to do?
Line dancers going off the rails....What can I say? Run girl...just run for the hills and never look back...who is responsible for this utter travesty...get out now!
