Renovation fund or Roger Vivier shoes? Organise the final phase of house renovation or hot foot it up to Paris for a shoe-buying fest? This is the lovely dilemma that I find myself in, after winning the 2007 Jasmine Literary Award (a sort of Bafta of beauty journalism) for best newspaper article on fragrance, in London earlier this week. It was even more thrilling this year as the win makes it a hat trick - the third time I've won this award. But the thrill remains enormous, as does the fun of deciding what to do with the generous cheque that accompanies it. At the moment, topping up the renovation fund (currently in minus figures) and organising une nettoyage des pierres and lime plastering of the facade is winning out.

Definitely go for the renovation, then everytime you look at the beautiful new facade you will be reminded of your success. |
Are there many occasions where you would get to wear Roger Vivier shoes in a small French village? |
OOOooo well done YOU!! *claps furiously. |
Bravo, Mimi. Well done. Buy yourself a good pair of designer wellies for wearing when walking doggies, and lots of chocolate. :-) |
First of all congrats! You deserve it. But now onto more important matter of what to do with it - spend it on something you will love, a treat...it's a prize after all! |
I agree with Chris, it is a prize and as such unexpected. |
Congrats and well deserved ;-) And enjoy your windfall, whatever you choose! (just post a photo either way...) |
Well done to you, Mimi! As the prize was related to fashion/beauty, perhaps spending some of the money on shoes would be reasonable (but certainly not all of it).
I have to agree that clearing one of your credit cards is not much fun.
And good luck for next year.
