Renovation fund or Roger Vivier shoes? Organise the final phase of house renovation or hot foot it up to Paris for a shoe-buying fest? This is the lovely dilemma that I find myself in, after winning the 2007 Jasmine Literary Award (a sort of Bafta of beauty journalism) for best newspaper article on fragrance, in London earlier this week. It was even more thrilling this year as the win makes it a hat trick - the third time I've won this award. But the thrill remains enormous, as does the fun of deciding what to do with the generous cheque that accompanies it. At the moment, topping up the renovation fund (currently in minus figures) and organising une nettoyage des pierres and lime plastering of the facade is winning out. There is also a third option, which is to clear one of my credit cards, but where's the fun in that?
